Information for people who are homeless, or at risk of being homeless.

Introduction

You can access many free support services if you are homeless, at risk of being homeless or a victim of family or domestic violence. 

Legal Aid NSW can help you if you have former tenancy classifications, TICA listings, debts, fines and social security (Centrelink) issues or other tenancy disputes with your landlord or social housing provider.

There are also many services available for mental health support.

Emergency accommodation

If you need temporary emergency accommodation, call Link2Home on 1800 152 152.

If you have been affected by the floods in the Northern Rivers region, you can access temporary housing sites. You can call Service NSW on 13 77 88 or see Temporary housing for flood-affected Northern Rivers region on the NSW Government website. 

You can use the free online tool AskIzzy website to search for shelter, food and other support services near you.

Family or domestic violence

If you have left home because of family or domestic violence, there are many shelters and support services available:

  • Women’s Legal Service NSW 1800 810 784
  • NSW Sexual Violence Helpline 1800 424 017.
