Legal Aid NSW specialist service
The Human Rights Group is a small Legal Aid NSW service that works on matters involving government misconduct in the criminal justice system, discrimination (outside of employment) and the protection of fundamental rights such as liberty and safety.
Ordinary Legal Aid NSW eligibility criteria applies.
Advice and assistance
The Human Rights Group provides assistance to other Legal Aid NSW lawyers. Initial appointments are not usually with a member of the Human Rights Group, and appropriate advice is available at most initial appointments.
Representation
Legal Aid NSW may be available to represent you if you are eligible for a grant of legal aid. Your matter may be transferred to the Human Rights Group or receive other support from a Human Rights Group solicitor.
Please discuss with your Legal Aid NSW lawyer whether specialist advice is necessary in your matter.
