We acknowledge receipt of your online form and the details you gave us about another person receiving a legal aid grant.

The confidentiality provisions in Sections 25 and 26 of the Legal Aid Commission Act (NSW) 1979 (the Act) mean that we are not able to give you any information about another person's dealings, if any, with Legal Aid NSW without their written consent.

However, Legal Aid NSW is committed to granting legal aid funds in an efficient, effective and economical manner. All applications for legal aid are assessed in strict keeping with the Act and Legal Aid NSW's policies and guidelines.

Where concerns are raised about the eligibility of a person for legal aid, Legal Aid NSW may conduct an investigation. The result of any investigation is also confidential given the previously mentioned limits of the Act.

We will consider the information you gave us but we will not contact you again with the outcome of our assessment.
